WASHINGTON - The U.S. Labor Department today said consumer prices rose 0.5 percent in April, the largest increase in almost a year, The Associated Press reports.
Gasoline, airfares and hospital services had the biggest price increases. Food prices edged up just 0.1 percent, following a 0.2 percent increase in March. Prices last month fell for vegetables, fruits, poultry, pork and diary products.
