SAN CARLOS, Calif. - DemandTec Inc. today announced that H. E. Butt Grocery Company is implementing DemandTec Price Demand Based Management (DBM) software in its Food Drug division in the second quarter 2002. The agreement follows an evaluation the companies performed in the summer of 2001.
"H-E-B evaluated several software vendors and chose DemandTec because of the features and functions provided by the DemandTec Price product. The foundation and architecture of their system gives them the edge when it comes to performance and ability to execute. DemandTec Price demonstrated to H-E-B that it delivers accurate information enabling us to execute our merchandising strategies, while meeting our business objectives and maintaining price image," said Scott McClelland, chief merchandising officer for H-E-B.
DemandTec 3 analyzes consumer buying patterns in Point of Sale (POS) data to help retailers understand price and promotion relationships for every item in every store to maximize value to the customer; predict how customers can be best served when prices or promotions are changed; and execute effective strategies that best suit the customer in each category and each store. With DemandTec 3, retailers can forecast the impact of their promotion calendar with DemandTec Promotion, and are able to integrate the projected promotion results into DemandTec Price, which will generate base prices and business forecasts.
