ARLINGTON, Va. - The National Grocers Association (N.G.A.), the voice of the independent segment of the retail and wholesale food industry, announced on Thursday that George Herbert Walker Bush, the 41st President of the United States, is to be the featured speaker at the National Grocers Association's Annual Convention and Concept Show. The show is scheduled for Feb. 11 - 14, 2002 at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Bush, father of current the U.S. president, and the nation's Commander-in-Chief from 1989 to 1993, will address N.G.A.'s Opening Convention Keynote Session at 5:30 pm on Feb. 11, 2002. Former president Bush previously spoke at the N.G.A. convention when he was Vice President, and the 1992 N.G.A. convention when he was President.
"We are absolutely delighted to have the former president join us at our convention. His comments will be particularly important and applicable because of the current situation facing America," says Thomas K. Zaucha, president and CEO of the N.G.A. "His knowledge of and experience in the global political scene will give attendees a better understanding of events currently transpiring here and abroad, and provide insight in to future."
Bush?s comments will anchor the four-day convention, which also features three keynote sessions, six conference keynote sessions, and more than 50 educational workshops. In addition, this year?s convention and show features the introduction of the Supermarket Synergy Showcase (S3), an interactive concept show that focuses on key areas of supermarket retailing geared towards 21st century concepts. S3 concentrates on operational services; fuel center solutions; applied technology and store fixtures; center store sales; whole health solutions; fresh and prepared foods; and specialty and ethnic foods.
"Attendees will see that N.G.A. has made an extraordinary effort to provide them with pertinent and timely information that will enable retailers and distributors to more effectively do their jobs," notes Zaucha. "Our goal remains to offer members the most up to date information."
