In a bid to expand mobile engagement for one of the most popular and pervasive products sold in supermarkets, Chiquita Brands has released an expanded loyalty app to engage and reward banana consumers with points that can be redeemed for a variety of Chiquita-brand merchandise.
The enhanced Chiquita FanFun app, which provides interactive games, customizable photos, fun quizzes, sweepstakes and hundreds of recipes, represents "a creative breakthrough for our category," with ample room for further momentum, according to Rob Adams, director of marketing and channel sales at Charlotte, N.C.-based Chiquita Brands.
Given bananas' role as the Official Fresh Snack of Little League Baseball and Softball, the Chiquita FanFan app includes the Little League Card Maker, a feature that lets users upload photos and convert them into authentic baseball cards. In addition, the app now offers a library of healthy and delicious ways to add bananas to a family’s diet, a variety of arcade games for all ages and quizzes that will test a user’s knowledge of bananas and the Chiquita brand.
Interacting with or sharing app content will earn users points that can then be applied to purchases of exclusive Chiquita apparel, toys and accessories at the online Chiquita Store.
Retailers can promote the content-rich app – which was developed with the help of FunMobility and which is available from both the iTunes App Store and Google Play Store, or by texting “Chiquita” to 55155 – in stores and on their websites to further enable shoppers to stay updated with Chiquita’s most current promotions. Through a mobile location-based store locator, users will also be able to find a Chiquita Banana retailer wherever they are.
