Allegiance Retail Services LLC has hired Gary Roselli as its category manager – produce/floral. Roselli will oversee merchandising programs and recommend new initiatives and strategies for meeting sales and profit goals.
Having begun his supermarket industry career in 1999 in the customer service department at a Clifton, N.J., Pathmark store, Roselli became a produce clerk at The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co., in Montvale, N.J., in 2008. Within two years, he rose to the position of procurement planner, in which he tracked key item performance; analyzed shipping data, sales records and consumer purchasing trends; and supported the buying staff. In 2011, Roselli became a category manager at A&P, responsible for the value-added line, produce beverages and Eastern vegetable products. He’s a member of the Eastern Produce Council.
"Gary's past experience in vendor relations, product inventory management, contract pricing and planogram design, coupled with his overwhelming passion for the area of produce, will be of great value to our business as we continue to grow," noted Dean Holmquist, Allegiance's VP – perishables.
Iselin, N.J.-based Allegiance provides independent supermarkets such as Foodtown, Freshtown, D'Agostino, LaBella Marketplace, Farmtastic and Brooklyn Harvest with marketing, advertising, technological and merchandising support, as well as a full line of Foodtown private label products.
