Meijer said on Wednesday it has inked a partnership with Auntie Anne's through which the global pretzel franchise opened its first location in August at a Meijer location in Fort Wayne, Ind.
The Grand Rapids, Mich.-based retailer plans to offer additional Auntie Anne's locations at another Fort Wayne store later this year, as well as a location planned for Michigan in 2015.
"Whether we’re feeding the appetite of hungry shoppers or serving as a treat for the ride home, Meijer is a great fit for our brand," said Brian Boycan, VP of non-traditional development for Auntie Anne's. "Our partnership with Meijer has been extremely beneficial for both brands. We look forward to strengthening the relationship and growing our presence in more superstores.”
Auntie Anne's also noted that the franchise's model has the ability to tailor its stores to appeal to venue and traffic count in both traditional and nontraditional locations.
Meijer operates 213 supercenters and grocery stores throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.
