Del Monte Fresh Produce has unveiled details of its second annual pineapple promotion, "Gold for Gold," which aims to highlight the brand's Gold Extra Sweet Pineapple.
The promotion urges retailers to create pirate-themed Del Monte Gold pineapple displays and submit photos and/or videos to GoldforGold@FreshDelMonte.com. The most creative and original display will win a pound of 24k gold, or the monetary equivalent donated to the charity of their choice.
Retailers can also earn points by running a Gold for Gold circular ad and using the point-of-sale signage. All participating retailers will also be entered to win a trip to Costa Rica.
“Del Monte Gold Extra Sweet Pineapples are incredibly versatile. They are an ideal and refreshing healthy snack, make delicious desserts, and can be used as an ingredient for cooking,” said Dennis Christou, VP of marketing, North America for Coral Gables, Fla.-based Del Monte. “Pineapples can be enjoyed year-round, especially in the fall when cooking and baking is in full swing as we approach the holidays.”
The five-week Gold for Gold promotion runs Oct. 13-Nov. 16.
