Alfalfa's has promoted John Varsames to COO and Lisa Fallon to VP of finance & administration, effective immediately.
The Boulder, Colo.-based retailer also named Paul McLean to the newly created position of VP of purchasing, marketing & merchandising.
As COO, Varsames will lead all store operations and new store development activities. He most recently served as VP of operations.
Prior to joining Alfalfa’s, Varsames was a member of the Rocky Mountain Leadership team for Whole Foods Market. Before that position, he operated an independent natural foods store, and held several operations management positions at Wild Oats Markets.
Fallon was hired as Alfalfa's corporate controller in August 2013. Prior to that, she served in various financial leadership and consulting roles, including Wild Oats Markets, Aurora Organic Dairy and Circadence Corp.
As newly appointed VP of purchasing, marketing & merchandising, McLean brings 25 years of industry experience to his new role, including management with Whole Foods Market, and most recently as regional VP of purchasing for its Northeast region. Prior to joining Whole Foods, he spent 10 years in operations, purchasing and merchandising roles with Wild Oats Markets.
