Key Food Opening 1st Olive Tree Marketplace

Upscale banner to debut in co-op’s home borough of Staten Island

Key Food Stores Co-operative Inc., a chain of independently owned and operated grocery stores, will hold the grand opening of its first-ever Olive Tree Marketplace, on Clove Road in its home borough of Staten Island, N.Y., on Dec. 19.

"It's important for the Key Food family to continue growing, and I think that the introduction of a new location on Staten Island is the perfect way to do that," said Key Food VP of Business Development John Durante. "Olive Tree Marketplace will be a much welcomed addition to this area."

The aim of the 9,000-square-foot store is to give shoppers an upscale shopping atmosphere, but with great value. Features include full-line meat and seafood departments; a deli department that will provide catering services; prepared foods; and a variety of specialty, natural and organic products.

"As we open this new store, we plan to be the new premier grocery shopping destination for Staten Island and to cater to everyone in the community's needs with the highest quality of products," noted storeowner David Shehadeh.

Key Food comprises 165 grocery stores under its namesake banner, as well as Key Food Marketplace, Key Fresh & Natural, Food Dynasty, Food Universe, Food World, Holiday Farms, Locust Valley and Milford Farms in all five New York City boroughs, Long Island, upstate New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
