Golub Corp./Price Chopper Supermarkets has promoted Robert Allen to the newly created position of director, insurance and workers' compensation, reporting directly to VP of Taxation Anne Davis. In this role, Allen will oversee corporate property and casualty insurance, in addition to the self-insured workers’ compensation program, for the Northeast regional grocery chain.
Allen worked for Price Chopper from 1992 to 1998, before leaving to become VP of risk management at Albany, N.Y.-based St. Peter's Health Partners. He returned to the grocer in 2012 as workers' compensation manager, a position he held until his current promotion.
Allen is a licensed hearing representative with the New York State Workers' Compensation Board, holds designations as a certified safety professional and associate in risk management, and is currently a candidate for chartered property and casualty underwriter.
Schenectady, N.Y.-based Golub owns and operates 134 Price Chopper grocery stores in New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. The family-owned company employs more than 22,000 associates who collectively own 45 percent of its privately held stock.
