Mariano's Fresh Market cut the ribbon on its newest location today - its second store in the northern Chicago suburb of Glenview and the largest of the banner's 32 locations.
Bringing some 500 new jobs to the area, the Glenview West store at 2323 Capital Drive covers more than 90,000 square feet, providing shoppers with signature Mariano’s experiences including Oki Sushi, Todds BBQ and the Squeez’D smoothie bar. Additionally, the store debuts the banner’s first Vero coffee with on-site roasted coffee beans.
“We have designed a store unlike any other, offering something for everyone,” said Bob Mariano, chairman, president, and CEO of Milwaukee-based Roundy’s, parent company of Mariano's. “If you’re hosting a party and looking for something unique to serve, meeting friends for a cup of Vero coffee or a homemade gelato, or need to shop for your family dinner, you’re going to find what you need here.”
The Glenview West store - the latest in Mariano's rapid expansion throughout the greater Chicago area - will also debut Mariano’s Signature Curation Center, designed to showcase artisanal products from around the world. Each item is selected to educate shoppers and share the unique story of each purveyor. The Curation Center’s products include specialty olive oil, granola and whiskey. The center also features a demo station that allows purveyors to engage with shoppers, prepare special recipes, seminars and tastings. The store will also have a specialty cheese and charcuterie shop, and Veg’D, offering fresh-prepared vegetarian and vegan items.
Additionally, the store includes the Oyster Bar, with fresh-shucked oysters and specialty seafood dishes; a bakery with artisan breads, pastries, cakes, doughnuts and rolls baked daily in-store, along with ethnic and Italian treats; and a full-service pharmacy with immunization services, the Mariano’s Prescription Savings Club and PharmaSmart Blood Pressure machine.
To celebrate the grand opening, the Roundy’s Foundation will make a donation to Journeys-The Road Home, which provides shelter and services to those who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless, throughout suburban Cook County.
Roundy’s operates 151 retail grocery stores and 100 pharmacies under the Pick ’n Save, Copps, Metro Market and Mariano’s banners in Wisconsin and Illinois.
