    Wegmans Tops J.D. Power Pharmacy Customer Satisfaction Study

    Target was No 1. among mass merchandisers

    Wegmans Pharmacy achieved the highest ranking among supermarket pharmacies in the J.D. Power 2015 U.S. Pharmacy Study. The Rochester, N.Y.-based grocer's pharmacy received a score of 887 out of 1,000 points in the ninth annual study of customer satisfaction across all categories of pharmacies.

    The study measures satisfaction according to five factors: prescription ordering, store, cost competitiveness, nonpharmacist staff and pharmacist.

    "Our pharmacy employees have built relationships with our customers that start with caring," noted Wegmans CEO Danny Wegman. "The results of this study are important because they show the extent to which our customers value those relationships and trust our people."

    Overall satisfaction with supermarket pharmacies rose to 851 in 2015, up from 843 in 2014. Last year's top scorer, Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix Super Markets Inc., came in second, with a score of 871. Additional scores were as follows: H-E-B (866), Kroger (861), Giant (849), Stop & Shop (841), Hy-Vee (838), ShopRite (832), Albertsons (820), Giant Eagle (818) and Safeway (806).

    Mass Appeal

    Among mass merchandisers, Target came in first, with a score of 858, followed by Sam’s Club, last year's top scorer (847); Meijer (842); Kmart (840); Costco (836); ShopKo (832); and Walmart (805). The overall satisfaction score was 822, down from 830 in 2014.

    Family-owned Wegmans Food Markets Inc. operates 86 stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland and Massachusetts.
