Today’s shopper and business environment is changing in ways that are not only unprecedented but continuous, with new sources for information, purchase and delivery options, and different preferences for Millennials and other valuable shopper groups.
Progressive Grocer is partnering with Meridian NorthStar to launch Envision, a comprehensive, ongoing and forward-looking study that examines the impact these changes are having on go-to-market requirements of retailers and suppliers.
The focus of the initial study is “Redefining the Physical Store,” a top priority noted by retailer and supplier partners. The study includes not only retailer and supplier input – click here for a link to the study – but shopper research based on responses from demographic shopper groups, including Millennials, Gen X, and Boomers to bring new thinking and track changes in the “shopper relationship” and similarly evolving best practices.
It’s widely recognized that the physical store remains the cornerstone for how the CPG industry sells products, but the changes among physical retailers and the increasing competition from e-tailers are impacting the shopper experience. Redefining the Physical Store will examine retailer and supplier definitions of categories and departments, and contrast these with shopper perspectives and needs. The study will also explore current tactics and potential opportunities for greater shopper engagement, interaction pre-shop and in-store. The study is designed to stay current and fresh, with planned development of subsequent studies that delve deep into key areas such as the evolving path to purchase and a look at loyalty programs.
Envision’s Redefining the Physical Store is sponsored by Progressive Grocer and Meridian-NorthStar Partners, with research conducted by Carbonview. The survey will be fielded beginning Nov. 12, but we welcome your participation now. Click here for the full survey.
