Highland, Indiana-based Strack & Van Til is renewing its focus on a full-service shopping experience, and the 20-store Northwest Indiana chain kicked off that effort with the major remodeling of its 87,000-square-foot Schererville supermarket.
Previously, visitors coming in the front door were greeted by a warehouse-style “wall of values.” This was torn down to clear a wide, open space for the new vibrantly colored produce section, and an extensive fresh floral department was added at the front of the store as well.
Produce is also home to Strack & Van Til's new expanded fresh-cut fruit program, along with fresh-squeezed juice. Next along this inner perimeter is the sushi bar, where chefs make restaurant-quality selections to order. The staffed cheese counter offers samples of specialty items and advice about wine and food pairings.
