Blackhawk Network has acquired NimbleCommerce, a digital commerce platform and promotions network which allows merchants and brands to manage or resell their own prepaid offers and gift card programs through retailer and publisher branded sites.
“The NimbleCommerce offer network is an exciting compliment to the Blackhawk Network ecommerce portfolio,” said Talbott Roche, president of the Pleasanton, Calif.-based Blackhawk. “NimbleCommerce will add to our existing offerings by providing merchants and retailers with more online distribution capabilities for gift cards and egifts, and will also provide consumers with additional prepaid brands and offers.”
The acquisition adds hundreds of new distribution points encompassing media outlets, deal websites and other publishers to Blackhawk’s ecommerce platform, and also adds thousands of merchants, including local and regional, to Blackhawk global offerings.
NimbleCommerce CEO Prashant Nedungadi said: “By joining our commerce and promotions platforms and our marketing, web and mobile solutions with Blackhawk’s, we are confident that our customers and partners will benefit greatly."
Noting that retailers increasingly "place importance on offering discounts and deals to attract new shoppers,” David Jones, Blackhawk Network general manager of global digital and eCommerce, praised the NimbleCommerce team, which he said "has done an excellent job in responding to this market interest with a platform that effectively merges advertisers with publishers.
