C&S Wholesale Grocers’ wholly-owned subsidiary Hawaiian Housewares is acquiring Edsung Foodservice Co., based in Honolulu.
The sale is expected to close in late April, and Edsung will be consolidated into the Hansen Distribution Group, a division of Keene, N.H.-based C&S. The consolidation will provide operational efficiencies, increased purchasing power and product breadth as well as opportunities for continued growth, the company said.
Edsung was founded in 1946 by Sungdai Choi and services all of Hawaii, specializing in bakery and restaurant supplies.
“Edsung and the Choi family have maintained a very loyal customer base with their high-service business model and strong customer partnerships,” said Rick Cohen, C&S chairman and CEO. “We are committed to maintaining Edsung’s distinctive ‘Service with Aloha’ as we welcome the employees and customers into the C&S family.”
