Ahold USA today has appointed Andrew Iacobucci to the role of EVP of merchandising, effective April 11. Iacobucci will lead a team that supports Ahold USA and its four retail divisions: Stop & Shop New England, Stop & Shop New York Metro, Giant Landover and Giant Carlisle.
A seasoned executive in the areas of merchandising, profit-and-loss ownership and retail strategy, Iacobucci has held several leadership positions over the past decade at Canadian grocer Loblaw Cos. Ltd., based in Brampton, Ontario. His most recent role there was president of the discount division.
Earlier, Iacobucci held senior leadership roles in Loblaws' grocery discount division, drugstore business unit, central store operations team, superstores team and corporate development function. Before joining Loblaws, Iacobucci worked for several years at Toronto-based global strategy consulting firm Monitor Group, where he focused on U.S. retail.
Iacobucci, who will relocate to the United States from Canada, “brings outstanding merchandising experience to help us on our journey from good to great,” noted Ahold USA COO James McCann.
Part of international food retailing group Ahold, Carlisle, Pa.-based Ahold USA consists of four regional divisions that together operate about 790 supermarkets with 115,000 associates in 14 states and the District of Columbia, along with e-grocer Peapod.
