Community leaders will vie for the title of Top Chef at Wegmans Food Markets’ 5th Annual Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection Taste of Success Celebrity Chef Challenge, in Syracuse, N.Y. The event will benefit local youth taking part in the Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection program. Wegmans has hosed the event since its inception; financial services company AXA is this year’s presenting sponsor.
Slated to take place Thursday, June 9, from 5:30-8 p.m. at the SRC Arena & Events Center at Onondaga Community College, the event will include tastings featured in Wegmans Menu magazine served by celebrity chefs who are public figures from the surrounding region, including Wegmans SVP of Store Operations Jack DePeters. The $35 tickets are available at all Syracuse Wegmans customer service desks and online.
The chefs will compete to raise money for Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection, a nationally recognized program that helps youth at risk of dropping out to stay in school and graduate while providing them with part-time work experience and job skills. The Syracuse-based program has nearly 1,000 participating local students.
Based in Rochester, N.Y., family-owned Wegmans operates 89 stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland and Massachusetts.
