Jim Davis, owner of Davis Food & Drug, will be inducted into the Utah Food Industry Association’s Hall of Fame during the annual conference on Aug. 23. The acknowledgement is “very humbling, gratifying and surprising,” Davis noted. “To receive an award and recognition of this level is indeed flattering,” he added.
Davis began his career in 1970 working as a bagger at Safeway; in 1988, he opened his first Davis Food & Drug stores in Vernal and Roosevelt, Utah. Now, along with his sons Lee and CJ, the company operates two more stores in LaVerkin and West Valley, Utah. Davis serves on several Associated Food Stores committees and has been chairman of the board for UFIA.
Community always has been important to Davis, and he adopted the “Hometown Proud” motto for all of his stores. He also has served on several boards in community and charity organizations.
UFIA has recognized retailers and suppliers that make significant contributions to the grocery industry and community with an induction into the Hall of Fame since 1980. Those honored are nominated and voted for by the board of directors.
