Coborn’s Continues to Expand ‘Next Generation’ Format

Newest remodel is in Sartell, Minn.

Earlier this year, Coborn’s introduced its next-generation store model, Coborn’s Marketplace in Insanti, and the St. Cloud, Minn.-based company has now just completed the remodel of the store in Sartell, Minn. It is the first Coborn’s Marketplace operating in the company’s home market.

The new format emphasizes fresh in an updated modern design. The 62,000-square-foot store features boutique-style fresh departments. “The presentation of fresh foods and the significant variety and assortment we’ve built into this store is impressive,” said Chris Coborn, chairman, president and CEO of Corborn’s Inc. “We want guests to feel eager to come to our store and view it as a well-rounded experience rather than just a routine trip to the grocery store.”

Much like the Insanti store, Sartell features The Kitchen, the deli concept, at the center as well as the Farmer’s Market produce department with the new Chop Shoppe of freshly cut fruit and vegetables.

The store also has an expanded Pine Cone Road Meat Market with a 65-foot service meat case, the largest of all the Coborn’s stores. The selections includes a large assortment of fresh Certified Hereford Beef and a new line of Flavorseal packaged fresh meat items. The new Pit Master and smoker also offers a variety of prepared smoked ribs, chicken, sausage and brisket options. The meat department also features an expanded selection of Simply Natural Meat that includes Full Circle grass-fed beef and pork, Just Bare poultry and grass-fed bison, lamb and veal. All of these proteins are Never Ever, meaning the animals were never given antibiotics or additional hormones.

Sartell also features an expanded seafood department, Fisherman’s Wharf, which offers value-added seafood selections like bourbon-glazed salmon on a wood plank, crab stuffed cod and lobster-stuffed Norwegian salmon. The sustainable fresh flight seafood program features several seafood items sent from the ocean to the store within a day.

Coborn’s Liquor, which had previously been located within the Sartell Coborn’s Superstore, is now located in an adjacent corner on the property; it has been open since August.
