Northgate Markets Optimizes Shelf Space with New Solution

Hispanic grocer Northgate Markets has deployed a new space optimization solution to create and share detailed planograms across its 30 California stores, in an effort to reduce out-of-stocks and boost sales.

The Anaheim, Calif.-based grocer is using Atlanta-based Aldata’s Apollo Space Optimization software to create schematics, update and share planograms with its stores, and create reports evaluating space usage and sales — not an easy task when you consider the fact that Northgate features a large service meat department, bakery, tortillería and prepared foods, in addition to a sizeable selection of domestic and imported Latin American grocery goods.

“With Aldata, we’re able to share planograms with all our stores, ensuring that they have access to the most up-to-date information regarding stocking and displaying merchandise,” said Steve Ferraiuolo, shelf management supervisor at Northgate. “This has helped us decrease out-of-stocks and increase revenue.”

The Apollo system is a collection of software modules that gives users the ability to automate planogram production while enabling consistent, accurate execution of category plans and new product launches at any required granular level.
