Organics Unlimited Helps Grocers Focus on Health, Nutrition

Organics Unlimited, a San Diego-based distributor of organic tropical fruit from Mexico and South America, has introduced a program to aid retailers in capitalizing on increased consumer interest in eating more healthfully. Integrated with the company’s merchandising initiative are tools designed for corporate merchandising, individual market produce and merchandising managers, among others. The program for first quarter 2011, which rolled out Jan. 1, deals entirely with health and nutrition.

“We want to give our retailers things they can use,” explained Organics Unlimited president Mayra Velazquez de Leon. “While we have always been focused on providing the best-quality bananas, we realize that retailers also face challenges with shoppers understanding all of the advantages of buying organic.”

Components of the program include weekly posts with tips for retailers on the company’s blog, "Organic Odes," at www.organicsunlimited.blogspot.com, and downloadable point-of-sale materials available at www.organicsunlimited.com.

Additionally, Organics Unlimited gives customers the choice between the Organics Unlimited label or the GROW label (organic and socially responsible). GROW bananas and other tropical fruits are available exclusively from the distributor.
