    As part of a multimillion-dollar media campaign -- its first in over seven years -- Armour-Eckrich Meats, LLC has introduced new packaging for its Eckrich Smoked Sausage item. Featuring innovative crescent-shaped design, the easy-open package will help save up to 800,000 pounds of waste annually, the Lisle, Ill.-based division of Smithfield Foods says, adding that grocers will gain more shelf space as a result of the more compact package. Additionally, the new design should allow for greater shelf presence and pack-out, and could boost retailer productivity, since the new shape is easy to stock and maintain, according to Armour-Eckrich.
