    Pear Bureau Launches ‘Pear Up’ Display Contest

    Open to retailers in February and March

    Pear Bureau Northwest’s “Pear Up with USA Pears” display contest, open in February and March, invites retailers to build an eye-catching display that features Green Anjou, Red Anjou and Bosc, as well as other varieties of USA Pears.

    Entrants are asked to submit an entry form with at least one photo of their display by April 15. Entries will be judged on a 100-point scale for appearance, creativity and educational impact. Ten bonus points will be added to entries that include any jumbo size pears.

    Thirteen winners in each of the following three store categories will be selected -- 1-5 cash registers, 6-9 cash registers, and 10 or more cash registers -- for a total of 39 winners. Winners in each store category will receive $1,000 for first place, $750 for second place, $500 for third place, and $150 each for 10 honorable mentions. As recognition for their participation, all who enter a complete and eligible entry will receive a $20 Amazon gift card.

    “With pears having a high rate of impulse purchase, good displays are key to the success of the pear category for retailers,” said Kevin Moffitt, president and CEO of Pear Bureau Northwest. “This contest is designed to reward and recognize retailers of all sizes for their creative pear displays that are so effective in boosting pear sales.”
