The Penn Traffic Co. and the Western Union Co. said yesterday that they have rolled out Western Union services at more than 140 of the retailer's stores.
Under an agreement between the two, shoppers at almost 100 P&C, Quality Markets, and Bilo stores in Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire are able to send and receive money via Western Union Money Transfer services and/or buy a Western Union Money Order. Additionally, customers can buy money orders at more than 40 Big M stores, part of Penn Traffic's wholesale food distribution business.
"One of our key strategies at Penn Traffic is to enhance the in-store experience for our consumers," said Kathy Allen, director of marketing & consumer affairs at the Syracuse, N.Y.-based company, in a statement. "The trusted, fast and convenient services Western Union provides are things our consumers want."
Western Union has over 335,000 Agent locations in more than 200 countries and territories.
In addition to the stores it operates, Penn Traffic operates a wholesale food distribution business serving approximately 121 independent operators.
