Piggly Wiggly Store Donating Home-baked Cookies to Soldiers

Mountin's Piggly Wiggly in Mayville, Wis. has decided to do something special for the troops who have to spend the holidays in Iraq and Afghanistan – send them a little bit of home, in the shape of tasty Christmas cookies.

From Dec. 4 through Dec. 7, shoppers can bring in two dozen or more of their favorite homemade cookies to the customer service desk, and Mountin's will take care of packing and shipping the sweet treats to soldiers in time for Christmas. Customers are asked to supply a Christmas greeting, along with their name and address.

The initiative has already attracted enthusiastic community participation. "So far the customer response has been terrific!" the store reported. "The local VFW has a group of volunteers that will be helping us package the cookies."

To thank shoppers for their donation, Mountin's will be giving them a $1-off token, which can be used on their next purchase.
