Pork Board's Boillot Leaves to Join Animal Welfare Validator

URBANDALE, Iowa -- Karen Boillot, director of retail marketing for the National Pork Board, will join Validus Services here in mid-September, at the newly-created position of director of retail sales.

In her new capacity, Boillot will work with retailers, food processors, and food companies "who want to assure their customers that their products are being raised using responsible production practices," said Validus c.e.o. Earl Dotson. "We have seen a steady growth in the amount of interest from retailers and foodservice companies about animal welfare, on-farm security and environmental audits. Karen will assist these companies in meeting their customer needs and company goals in terms of social responsibility and production practices," Dotson said.

An independent certification company that works with food companies and producers to ensure food is raised using socially responsible on-farm production practices, Validus uses a proprietary assessment and audit tool to certify products meet the company's or producer's specific criteria. Certification programs offered by Validus include Animal Welfare Review, Environmental Review and On-Farm Security Review.

Boillot's last day at the Pork Board will be Aug. 24.
