Produce Video Center: A Wealth of Health Online

As more and more Americans shop their local supermarket for a healthier diet, successful retailers are implementing programs, signage and online tools to help customers achieve their dietary goals. To maintain your health-conscious competitive edge, consider tapping into the wealth of nutritional information available online, like the newly expanded Video Center from Fruits & Veggies — More Matters®, for example.

Fruits & Veggies — More Matters Adds Over 40 New Videos to Web Site
Looking for ways to give your customers the best uses for different varieties of pears? How about tips for helping them peel winter squash? Or maybe you want to convey the difference between tangerines and mandarin oranges. Search no more, thanks to Fruits & Veggies — More Matters, which has recently expanded its educational Video Center accessible through its Web site at http://www.fruitsandveggiesmorematters.org/.

The Video Center is filled with short informational clips that show how to check different fruits and vegetables for ripeness, proper storage methods, healthy, fast recipe preparation, and many other fun and useful tidbits of produce information. You can also check out the latest installments form “Produce Man” Michael Marks, who takes visitors step-by-step through preparing a fresh persimmon, illustrating each stage in the process, and creating a delicious and elegant sorbet dessert. He also shows a clever method for getting the tasty seeds out of a pomegranate using a bowl of water.

“The Video Center page is the perfect tool for produce managers to help their staff learn more about fruits and veggies they may not be that familiar with, and they can recommend it to their customers, too,” says Jill Le Brasseur, spokeswoman for Produce for Better Health Foundation (PBH).

The 41 new videos join the Center’s existing library for a total of 316 videos. New fresh produce topics range from cranberries to persimmons to pomegranates and pummelos. “These new videos are a great addition to our Video Center, which is proving to be a popular destination for Web site visitors,” adds Elizabeth Pivonka, PBH’s president/CEO. “The videos educate and entertain viewers, and cover a wide variety of different fruit and vegetable topics. The videos are searchable by theme, meal or keyword searches making finding the information you’re looking for quick and easy.”

New content and enhancements are continuously being added to the Fruits & Veggies — More Matters Web site.
