Dana Stanley of Las Vegas was named the winner of the 2009 Coca-Cola California Dream Home Giveaway promotion sponsored by Albertsons, which also awarded 50 additional winners a year’s supply of Coca-Cola products. Albertsons is owned by Minneapolis-based Supervalu.

Stanley, a mother of three, entered the contest at her neighborhood Albertsons when she picked up Diet Coke with Lime, Coca-Cola and Sprite for her family. With her purchase, she was automatically entered to win a $250,000 Taylor Morrison home in Southern California. “I can’t tell you how stunned I still am,” she said. “You just think that these kinds of things never actually happen, but they do. When it finally started to sink in, I started getting goose bumps, I was so excited.”

During the promotion, which ran from June 17 to Aug. 11, consumers received one automatic entry into the giveaway each time they bought eligible Coca-Cola products with an Albertsons Preferred Savings Card at a participating store. “The response to the promotion was tremendous,” said Sue Klug, president of Albertsons’ Southern California division.

Stanley had the opportunity to choose her new home from one of Taylor Morrison’s Southern California neighborhoods: Las Colinas and Los Arboles in Irvine; Market Street at Dos Lagos and Shady Grove, both in Corona; Bellafina in Montclair; Buenaterra in Buena Park; or Palazzo in Stanton.

Her selection was a two-bedroom, 1,651-square-foot home that’s currently being built by Taylor Morrison in the company’s Market Street community at Dos Lagos. It is expected to be completed in March 2010. Stanley’s home will be located near shopping, dining and entertainment, making it even easier for her to enjoy the community, which was designed by the award-winning Robert Hidey Architects.

Against a trying backdrop of persistently weak economic conditions, fierce competition and financially wary shoppers, supermarket produce departments faced much harsher headwinds during the past 12- month period than they have in recent years, as evidenced by marginal comparable-sales gains and a tentative outlook for the balance of the year, according to results of Progressive Grocer's 2009 Annual Produce Operations Review.
