Campbell Soup Names CSR Veep

Sept 3, 2008

Campbell Soup Co. said yesterday it has appointed David P. Stangis to the new position of v.p.-corporate social responsibility.

Reporting to s.v.p.-law and government affairs Ellen Oran Kaden, Stangis will design the company's overarching CSR strategy, including its environmental sustainability efforts, the CPG firm said. Working closely with senior leaders, the new exec will continue Campbell's work in this area and develop CSR goals, policies, and programs, said the company.

Stangis has worked in the environment, health and safety and CSR arenas for over 20 years. He comes to Campbell from Intel Corp., where he was global director, corporate responsibility for the past eight years. Before joining Intel, Stangis worked for several environmental engineering firms.

"His experience, knowledge and relationships will be invaluable to Campbell as we enhance our CSR strategies and programs," noted Campbell president and c.e.o. Douglas R. Conant. "In the coming years, Dave will lead Campbell's efforts to build upon the programs outlined in our CSR report and communicate to our stakeholders with increasing detail and transparency."

Last month Camden, N.J.-based Campbell published its 2008 corporate social responsibility report, "Nourishing People's Lives," which outlines its CSR strategies, policies, programs, and initiatives, including environmental sustainability.
