Jay Ropietski Joins Weis Markets as VP/Store Ops

July 2, 2008

Supermarket industry veteran Jay Ropietski has joined Weis Markets as v.p. of store operations, a position that had been vacant for some time.

Ropietski left Price Chopper in New York to join Weis Markets, which is headquartered in Sunbury, Pa. He will oversee the day-to-day operations of Weis' 156 stores, and reports to a former Price Chopper colleague, David J. Hepfinger, who was recently named president and c.o.o. at Weis.

At Rotterdam, N.Y.-based Price Chopper, Ropietski had been regional v.p., overseeing store operations in Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Eastern New York.

During his 25-year retail food career, Ropietski has worked in a variety of positions including assistant store manager, store manager, perishable specialist, and district manager.

Weis Markets operates 156 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and West Virginia.  It also owns and operates SuperPetz, a pet supply superstore chain with 28 locations in nine states.
