Orion Modular Lighting Patented
Manitowoc, Wis.-based energy management company Orion Energy Systems, Inc. has earned a patent — the 22nd for the company — for its energy-efficient modular lighting platform, because its modular features make initial installation and the integration of additional energy-saving technologies easy and affordable.
The modular plug-and-play features of the technology are designed for simple in-field quick changes of the power supply to accommodate the existing branch circuit receptacle. The modularity also allows users to integrate the InteLite control device to further reduce energy waste by turning off lights that aren't needed, a function that can be triggered by ambient light levels or motion.
According to Orion, the Compact Modular platform reduces users' light-related energy costs by typically 50 percent, while increasing light levels by 50 percent. When integrated with Orion's InteLite wireless control system and direct renewable solar Apollo light pipe, Orion customers can reduce energy consumption for lighting by up to 80 percent.

A Green Light
Marktech LED Lighting Products' new line of T9 LED Light Tubes has a color rendering index of 80 and a slim design, making it ideal for a variety of retail lighting applications, including back lighting, cove lighting, POP and display lighting, and refrigeration/cooler lighting.
The 24-volt T9 light tubes are available in three white-color temperatures — 3300k (cool white), 4200k (neutral white) and 6500k (warm white) — and are sold in lengths of 1 to 5 feet and viewing angles of 50 degrees and 100 degrees. Each tube includes two mounting hardware options that can rotate up to 120 degrees. Its high-lumen output can be dimmed using a low-voltage remote LED dimmer module.
Each tube is engineered to last in excess of 50,000 hours; contains no lead, mercury or glass; and is RoHS compliant, says Latham, N.Y.-based Marktech.

Tale of the Tape
Garden City, N.Y.-based WAC Lighting has expanded its InvisiLED Tape family of energy-saving display and accent lighting solutions with two versatile products for a broad range of layouts and applications, including miniature coves, architectural accents, under counters and bars, display windows, and wine racks.
The InvisiLED Palette and Aura are two new color-changing systems with user control designed specifically for retail grocery displays.
Energy-efficient LED tape delivers a crisp, quality light while using only 1.5 watts per foot. According to WAC, the LED Tape Lighting is flexible and easy to install, offers an extremely low profile, and is virtually invisible with 1/8th-of-an-inch thickness and 7/16th-of-an-inch width, allowing for applications in extremely narrow coves. Each self-adhesive InvisiLED strip is backed with a 3M adhesive or screw-based mounting clips, and is available in 1-foot and 5-foot sections that are field-cuttable every six inches, or may also be cut to length at the end of a run.
The InvisiLED Palette features color-changing capabilities with chips that have three individually colored diodes: red, green and blue. The color changes are programmed for a constant, smooth transition with adjustable speed among the three colored diodes, and can be stopped at any point for a custom color effect. The 60-watt, 24-volt Class II power supply options include remote or plug-in, which can run Palette up to 40 feet in length.
The InvisiLED Aura works similarly to the Palette, and features color-changing capabilities with chips that have three individually colored diodes. Aura offers a color range from amber to 5100k white; the color temperature manually transitions in 10 steps and can be stopped at any point during the transition for a custom color effect. As with the Palette, the 60-watt, 24-volt Class II power supply options include remote or plug-in, which can run Aura up to 40 feet in length.

Gliding Signs
Salem, Mass.-based retail signware manufacturer Rose Displays, Ltd. developed its EasyGlide Track System to give retailers flexibility in displaying graphics hung from the ceiling.
The system consists of moveable gliders and a single track that secures flush against the ceiling. The gliders can be added and removed as desired, enabling visual display professionals to adapt the system to new promotions without disassembling the display. To move graphics from side to side, users just slide them along the track. The patent-pending design allows the gliders to be added and removed easily from anywhere on the track without having to access the end of the track. Gliders don't swivel, making them easier to use with regular hooks without the need for a ladder. Once the hook is in position, the gliders lock into place, ensuring display safety, according to Rose Displays.
The EasyGlide can be used on flat ceilings as well as on standard, recessed or mini grid ceilings. Track lengths are available in any size between 12 inches and 125 inches for use on flat ceilings, and grid ceiling tracks are offered in 24-inch or 48-inch lengths. Hanging hardware kits and matching end caps are included.
The system works with Rose Displays' Butterfly Clips and Mighty Mite Anchors, is compatible with the company's full line of hanging accessories, and accommodates a wide range of graphics.
Stock finishes are clear anodized aluminum and painted white aluminum. End caps for grid applications are available in white plastic; end caps for flat ceiling applications are available in silver or white plastic. Custom colors are also available.
