Obituary: Terrence "Tip" Murphy, Ready Pac Foods
July 18, 2008
Of the produce industry's most passionate and dedicated emissaries,
Terrance "Tip" Murphy, died suddenly of a heart attack while
playing golf with his friends last weekend.
A 25-year veteran of the CPG industry, with the last 15 years spent
in produce, Murphy for the past 16 months served as Ready Pac
Foods' eastern division v.p./retail sales.
"We have lost a great member of the produce community, but more
tragic is the loss to his wife and two teenage daughters, who he
cherished and loved immeasurably," said Mike Celani, s.v.p. at the
Irwindale, Calif.-based Ready Pac. Celani and Murphy knew one
another for 15 years and worked closely at Chiquita and Ready
Pac.
Having served the industry formally in several capacities, Murphy
was a past member of both PMA's retail board and its board of
directors. He also co-chaired the launch of the PMA's Retail
Solutions Conference.
