Tops Markets Implements New Lifecycle Price Optimization, End-to-End Promotion Management

July 15, 2008

Northeast regional supermarket operator Tops Markets, LLC is rolling out DemandTec Lifecycle Price Optimization and DemandTec End-to-End Promotion Management to enchance its marketing and merchandising operations. Among the software services to be implemented this year are Everyday Price Management, Promotion Planning & Optimization, and Deal Management.

"DemandTec's applications will allow Tops to be more efficient in managing promotional activity and streamlining our every day pricing," said Tops s.v.p. of sales and merchandising Patrick Curran. "Having localized pricing will undoubtedly enhance value for our shoppers and, ultimately, increase customer satisfaction."

Everyday Price Management streamlines the price management process with rules-based pricing, price maintenance, and price execution. Promotion Planning & Optimization allows retailers to forecast and evaluate multiple promotion scenarios to boost the profitability of each promotion. Deal Management simplifies the trade promotions process via online collaboration.

Tops Markets, LLC, based in Williamsville, N.Y., operates 71 full-service supermarkets and five franchise supermarkets and employs over 10,000 associates.

Customers of San Carlos, Calif.-based DemandTec include Delhaize America, Giant-Carlisle, H.E. Butt Grocery Co., and Safeway.
