Stater Bros. Annual 'Holiday Giving Campaign' to Feed More Than 500K

Dec 24, 2008

At a time when local food banks and other organizations are having trouble meeting demand, Stater Bros.' annual Holiday Giving Campaign has been a source of much-needed help for various food banks, military bases, and non-profit organizations throughout the communities its serves.

All told, Stater Bros. donations will help feed over 500,000 individuals this holiday season, the grocer said.

In addition to food, it has also provided thousands of children's toys for families in need.

"Our campaign is especially important this year since so many food banks and community organizations are falling short of their needs," said Jack H. Brown, chairman/c.e.o. of the 165-store chain.

Each year, Stater Bros. contributes over $15 million to assist needy citizens with an emphasis on worthy programs that benefit hunger relief, health and nutrition, and education. Stater Bros. also donates over 3 million pounds annually of food and products to the local food banks.

With annual sales in 2008 of $3.74 billion, Stater Bros. has become the largest privately owned supermarket chain in Southern California and the largest private employer in both San Bernardino and Riverside Counties.
