Stop & Shop Adding Two Mass. Stores

Nov 14, 2008

The Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. said this week it has signed an agreement to buy two leases for stores in Massachusetts from Grand Union Family Markets, in Provincetown and Seekonk, Mass.

The closing of both transactions will occur early next month, followed by the brief closure of both locations for conversion to the Stop & Shop banner. Both stores will re-open in time for holiday shopping. The Provincetown in-store pharmacy will stay open during the conversion.

"This affords us an opportunity to provide our neighbors in Provincetown and Seekonk with an engaging shopping experience," said s.v.p. of sales and operations Mark McGowan.

Quincy, Mass.-based Stop & Shop employs over 59,000 associates and operates stores in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, and New Jersey.
