C&S Wholesale Grocers to Deploy Trade Deal Management Software

July 24, 2008

Grocery wholesaler C&S Wholesale Grocers said it will subscribe to DemandTec's Deal Management software service, in a bid to automate its vendor deal management process, enhance its relationships with suppliers, and improve service to its retail accounts.

"We expect to see both operational and financial benefits from this implementation," said Tracy Moore, s.v.p. of merchandising, supply chain, and trade relations for C&S. "Many of our suppliers are already using the Deal Management service on the DemandTec TradePoint Network."

C&S had been using an internally developed application to collaborate with suppliers on trade deals, but the system required significant resources to operate and maintain, and wasn't scalable to the extent the company needed, according to DemandTec.

C&S will use the deal management service to improve vendor compliance on trade deals and reduce the administrative cost of processing supplier deal sheets.

Deal Management is one of the software services within DemandTec's End-to-End Promotion Management solution, which enables retailers and wholesalers to manage the process of planning, optimizing, and executing promotions, including internal collaboration between departments, and external collaboration with vendors.

C&S provides distribution services to more than 5,000 grocery stores and independent stores in Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Alabama, California, and Hawaii.
