Giant Eagle Doubles Holiday Gift Card Rewards

Nov 15, 2009

Giant Eagle is once again reviving its limited-time holiday promotion that will offer a 20-cent-per-gallon discount at GetGo fuel and convenience store locations for every $50 spent with the Giant Eagle Advantage Card on all qualifying retailer gift cards. The standard program offers a 10-cent-per-gallon discount.

Giant Eagle's successful fuelperks! program rewards customers who meet the appropriate purchase requirements in participating Giant Eagle supermarkets and GetGo locations, as well as online at Giant Eagle¹s dedicated Web portal, fuelperksMall.com, which also enables Advantage cardholders to earn 10-cent-per-gallon gasoline discounts with each $50 spent on gift cards from more than 600 top brands and retailers.

In addition to gift cards and everyday grocery items, there are numerous ways for customers of the Pittsburgh-based chain to earn fuelperks! rewards, including non-state and non-federally funded pharmacy prescriptions, Dress for Success dry cleaning services, and photo and video services.

As well as offering gasoline discounts via fuelperks!, Giant Eagle last spring added another layer to its shopper loyalty rewards program with foodperks!, which enables customers to earn discounts on supermarket shopping trips by pumping gasoline at the retailer¹s GetGo fuel stations. Foodperks! rewards points are also cumulative and are electronically tracked via the Advantage card. There are no limits to the number of rewards that can be earned, although there's a maximum discount redemption of $60, or 20 percent, on a single trip's purchase total of $300. Any foodperks! savings beyond the 20 percent maximum will be saved for a later supermarket trip.

Giant Eagle operates 160 corporate and 60 independently owned and operated supermarkets in addition to 153 fuel and convenience stores throughout western Pennsylvania, Ohio, north central West Virginia and Maryland.
