Wegmans Food Markets is bringing its The Pub at Wegmans concept, a full-service restaurant and bar serving internationally inspired cuisine, to its Allentown, Pa., location in June. Presided over by executive chef Geno Nosenzo, the eatery will offer lunch and dinner dishes made with the store’s fresh ingredients, along with cocktails, wines by the bottle or glass, and a large assortment of craft beer.
“The response to The Pub at Wegmans has been fantastic, and we’re thrilled to bring fresh, chef-prepared food and craft beer to our newest location in Allentown,” said Kathy Haines, director of Wegmans' in-store restaurants and Market Café prepared food sections, including three other Pennsylvania Pubs in Malvern, King of Prussia and Collegeville.
The Allentown Pub’s menu will include soups, sandwiches, pizzas, salads and entrees, encompassing a variety of cuisines, from ethnic to substantial comfort foods, as well as dinner specials and seasonal additions. Prices will range from $5 to $22. The Pub will also make a kids’ menu available.
Featuring table service, capacious seating and a full bar, the restaurant is viewed by Wegmans as a natural extension of its comprehensive Market Cafés, which provide dine-in or to-go dishes prepared fresh in an on-site kitchen.
“The Pub is a great option for so many of our guests: shoppers who prefer not to ‘shop hungry,’ neighbors who live nearby and want a quick meal on the way home from work, even families who want to enjoy an affordable dinner together without all the cooking and cleaning,” noted Wegmans Allentown store manager Mike Kier. “We aim to offer our guests the best and most comprehensive food experience, from shopping for groceries to enjoying dinner and drinks.”
Among the local, domestic and international craft beers to be served is Wegmans Sly Fox Tale Chaser, a summer ale brewed by Sly Fox Brewing Co. exclusively for, and only available at, the Pub, along with such local favorites as Yuengling, Stout’s and Victory. Original cocktails will include Mule Kick (tequila, ginger beer, Wegmans fresh squeezed tangerine juice and lemon, served on the rocks); Mo-Townito (rum, vanilla bean, fresh mint and lime, served in a highball glass); Refresh (gin, cucumber, fresh basil, chamomile and lime, served up); and Summer-Thyme Cooler (vodka, lemon, fresh thyme, moscato and soda, served over rocks in a wineglass).
Located within the Allentown store’s Market Café, the Pub will evoke a casual ambience through glowing mahogany and rich colors, with seating for 130 at the large, wrap-around bar and in the comfortable dining room. The restaurant will be spacious enough for parties, business functions and other private events.
