Publix Named Among Best Places to Work in IT

For the fourth consecutive year, Publix Super Markets has been honored as one of Computerworld's top 100 workplaces for information technology (IT) professionals.

This honor is part of the weekly IT publication's 15th annual Best Places to Work in IT survey, published in the June 30 issue of Computerworld and online at www.computerworld.com.

Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix moved up to No. 79 from last year's No. 81, and remains the only supermarket chain to be recognized, the retailer said. In addition, Publix ranks No. 41 for companies with 10,000 or more associates.

Maria Brous, director of media and community relations, said the recognition is evidence that  "our IT associates believe so strongly in our company and mission that we have made the list for four straight years."

Publix is privately owned and operated by its 141,000 employees, and operates 937 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Tennessee. The grocer has been named one of Fortune's "100 Best Companies to Work For in America" for 11 consecutive years.
