Ready Pac Embraces Social Media

Fresh salad provider Ready Pac Foods is moving to engage consumers through a streamlined digital and social media focus. First on the company’s agenda was the launch of the Lunch is On Us! Win Ready Pac Bistro Bowl Salads for a Year contest on the Ready Pac Facebook page. During the contest, which runs through May 24, visitors to the page can also enter a Bowl-a-Day Giveaway drawing by “Liking” the page and filling out a short entry form.

Additionally, Ready Pac has revamped its website to better engage with consumers and share information on the importance of healthy eating, and how innovative and convenient products can save time and provide health benefits. The site offers product information, recipes and a search box that enables visitors to enter what they’re hungry for to receive meal suggestions. For instance, a query for “pasta” retrieves such recipes as Fast Fettuccine Florentine, a dish using Ready Pac Microwave Spinach, or when a user types in “pizza,” a quick option is Ready Snax Pepperoni, Cheese & Flat Bread Snack Pac.

“All of our digital platforms were designed with the consumer in mind,” explained Tristan Simpson, director of marketing at Irwindale, Calif.-based Ready Pac. “Our website and social media channels give us the opportunity to engage directly with consumers and share information -- consumers can give us tips we can use to meet their needs, and we can give the consumer helpful, healthful meal options.”

Both contests encourage consumers to enter their names and e-mail addresses for a chance to win. Featuring fewer than 300 calories each, Ready Pac Bistro Bowl salads are currently available in Chicken Caesar, Chef, Cranberry Walnut, Italiano, Santa Fe Style Caesar, Smokehouse BBQ, Spinach Dijon and Turkey & Bacon Cobb varieties, with Asian Style, Caesar Lite and Mediterranean coming soon. All Bistro Bowls are ready to eat and include both a single serving of dressing and a fork, so consumers can eat them anywhere.

The contest is currently being promoted the company’s website, Facebook and Twitter. A randomly selected winner, notified by e-mail, will receive a coupon book good for 104 Ready Pac Bistro Bowls (two per week).
