Ready Pac Foods Inc.’s fresh food-processing facility in Swedesboro, N.J., has received SQF (Safe Quality Food) Level 3 certification, the highest certification available. This means that all of the produce supplier’s processing facilities have now met the program’s rigorous food safety and quality requirements.
“Ready Pac implemented the stringent SQF certification program system-wide to develop standardized and harmonized quality systems that align with our customers’ food safety and quality needs,” noted Tristan Simpson, director of marketing and corporate communications for the Irwindale, Calif.-based compnay. “It is also an important tool for reducing redundancies and improving efficiencies.”
The only food safety program outside of Europe to be recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GSFI), SQF improves process management through such means as comprehensive, consistent training to maintain the integrity of the process. The program is administered by the SQF Institute in Arlington, Va.
In keeping with its goal of continuous improvement, Ready Pac said it would keep striving to make quality and food safety even better.
