Albertsons Taps Former Pillsbury Exec for New Senior VP Position

BOISE, Idaho - Albertsons Inc. on Tuesday announced the appointment of Eric J. Cremers to the newly created position of senior vice president-corporate strategy and business development. Cremers will serve as a member of the company's executive council and report to executive VP and CFO, Felicia Thornton.

Cremers most recently served as managing director for investment banking at US Bancorp Piper Jaffray, where he ran the consumer mergers and acquisitions group. Prior to that, he held the position of VP, strategy and business development for the Pillsbury Company. At Pillsbury, he developed food service and international business growth plans while also executing mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures.

"Eric is an exciting addition to our team," said Felicia Thornton. "As chief strategy officer he will be responsible for shaping the company's core strategic plans and directing the development of new business opportunities."

Larry Johnston, chairman and CEO, also commented on the appointment. "We are extremely fortunate to have Eric join the senior leadership team. His background in mergers, acquisitions and strategy development will be invaluable as we pursue exciting new options for growth."
