Cargill Brands Competition Enables BBQ Bloggers to Take on Turkey

Hoping to prompt more consumers to grill turkey, Cargill’s Honeysuckle White and Shady Brook Farms turkey brands have introduced an online blogging competition featuring 10 top barbecue bloggers from across the United States. The participants have each submitted a video demonstration of a turkey barbecue recipe that best exemplifies the taste and flavor of their respective regions. The videos can be viewed at www.honeysucklewhite.com and www.shadybrookfarms.com.

Based on the votes of Web site visitors, the top turkey recipe will be selected, with the competition winner to receive free turkey for a year and a one-on-one, all-expense-paid barbecue training session with expert griller Konrad Haskins of the BBQ Institute in Dallas.

“The 10 competing bloggers have really put an exciting new twist on grilling turkey,” said Haskin. “The recipes showcase a variety of regional flavors and can be a great addition to any summer grilling menu. All of the recipes include commonly found ingredients or spices that are available in grocery stores or farmers’ markets, and take no longer than one hour to make on the grill -- perfect for the everyday chef."

The bloggers taking part in the competition are Bill West, BBQ Tricks (BarbecueTricks.com); Brian Pearcy, BBQ Guy (BBQGuyBlog.blogspot.com); Chris Grove, Nibble Me This (NibbleMeThis.com); Curt McAdams, Livefire Online (LivefireOnline.com); Daniel Vaughn, Full Custom Gospel BBQ (FCG-BBQ.blogspot.com); Drew Thornley, Man Up Texas BBQ (ManUpTexasBBQ.blogspot.com); Jay Ducote, Bite and Booze (BiteAndBooze.com); John Dawson, Patio Daddio (PatioDaddioBBQ.com); Jon Harrison and Geoff Ditto, El Smokeador y Smokehopper (ElSmokeadorySmokehopper.blogspot.com); and Mike Vrobel, Dad Cooks Dinner (DadCooksDinner.com).
