Catalina Mktg. Elects former Ahold CEO Tobin to Board

SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Robert G. Tobin, a former c.e.o. of Ahold USA, has been elected to Catalina Marketing Corp.'s board of directors.

Tobin was chief executive of the Dutch-owned Royal Ahold's U.S. operating unit from 1998 until his retirement in 2001. He also served as interim c.e.o. of Ahold's U.S. Foodservice for six months during 2003; and was chairman and c.e.o. of Ahold's flagship Stop & Shop division from 1993 until 1998. Tobin also currently serves as a director of Landec Corp.

Commenting on the announcement, Frederick W. Beinecke, Catalina's board chairman, said Tobin's "depth of experience drawn from a career in the retail environment and the consumer packaged goods industry will be an asset to our board."

Catalina also said that its board has authorized $100 million of funds to be available for the repurchase of the company's common stock. The company has completed the execution of the $100 million repurchase program authorized by the board in September 2004. The company repurchased 3,917,100 shares for a total of $100 million, including 2,265,000 shares for $55.8 million in the current fiscal year, pursuant to the September 2004 authorization.
