College Breaks Ground for Wegmans Pharmacy School

Pittsford, NY-- Officials at St. John Fisher College here broke ground this week for a new pharmacy school made possible by a $5 million donation by Robert B. Wegman, the largest such gift in the school's history.

Construction will begin shortly on the 37.000-sq.-ft. building that will contain classrooms, lab space, and offices for faculty and administration. The pharmacy school is expected to open in fall 2006 with an inaugural class of up to 50 students. It will be the first of its kind in New York's Monroe County, and the fifth in New York State.

Robert Wegman's son, Danny, c.e.o. of Rochester, N.Y.-based Wegmans Food Markets, and Colleen Wegman, president, were on hand for the groundbreaking ceremonies.
