A Cookbook Fit for Kings

PARSIPPANY, N.J. -- In honor of the 20th anniversary of its Kings Cooking Studio, Kings Super Markets here has created a cookbook featuring over 160 recipes and 115 color photos arranged in seasonal meal themes prepared by the chain's Cooking Studio teachers and guest chefs.

Published by Sillery & Partners, the 218-page hardbound book retails for $26.50, but Kings has it on sale for $21.50. The book is sectioned according to the seasons and is a collaboration of more than 22 instructors, led by Susan Loden, Kings Cooking Studio manager. Recipes include Carole Walter's Peaches 'n Cherries in Port, Nick Malgieri's Caramel Pecan Squares, and Jean Yueh's Vietnamese Fried Spring Rolls.

When the first studio opened in 1983 at the chain's Short Hills store, students took classes in how to use newfangled microwave ovens and food processors. Today, instructors take the home chef through the seasons, using readily available fresh ingredients.

As part of the anniversary celebration, Kings also offered a "Bring in a friend for FREE" coupon valid on new registrations in yesterday's newspapers. Kings operates Cooking Studios in four of its 25 locations.
