Cub Food's Pharmacies Named Twin Cities' Best for Second Straight Year

MINNEAPOLIS -- Cub Foods apparently has the right prescription for pleasing the majority of pharmacy shoppers. Twin Cities consumers voted Cub Foods' in-store pharmacies in as the best in the market, for the second year in a row.

Responding to the 2005 WilsonRx Pharmacy Survey, an independent study administered annually by Wilson Health Information, local shoppers ranked Cub's pharmacies first in all 20 survey categories. There are 50 Cub Pharmacies in the metro area, all within Cub Foods stores.

The survey was mailed to more than 2,000 homes and completed in May and June. Respondents answered an eight-page questionnaire that compared Cub Pharmacies with other local pharmacies in categories such as satisfaction, convenience, professional service, and employee helpfulness.

"To be voted the best local pharmacy by Twin Cities' shoppers for two consecutive years truly underscores [our] commitment to providing the best pharmacy experience for our customers," said Andy Herring, e.v.p., Cub Pharmacy. "Our goal is to provide customers with expert advice, and we will continue to maintain the highest standards."

Survey respondents said they value the professional services offered by Cub Pharmacy, such as pharmacist advice, health-and-wellness services, bone density and cholesterol screenings, and diabetes counseling and training. Respondents also noted their appreciation of the experience of shopping at Cub Pharmacy, including the friendly staff, wide selection of food, and other nondrug-related items, as well as the convenience and privacy of prescription-filling services.

Cub Pharmacy shoppers reported the highest overall satisfaction, intent to return to their pharmacy to fill and refill prescriptions, and willingness to recommend their pharmacy to friends and relatives.

Cub Pharmacy is the retail brand of Supervalu Pharmacies, Inc. Operating 52 stores in the Twin Cities, Cub Foods was established in 1968 as one of the nation's first discount grocery stores and was purchased in 1980 by Supervalu.
