Dick's Supermarkets to Get Aid For Bakery/Deli Facility
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - Dick's Supermarkets, Inc. will receive financial aid for its proposed $6 million, 41,000-square-foot bakery and delicatessen facility here, the Wisconsin Department of Commerce said.
"We approved an industrial revenue bond (IRB) allocation for them," Jamie Wall, administrator of the division of business development, told Progressive Grocer.
The supermarket chain, a division of Sheboygan, Wis.-based Fresh Brands Inc., will get proceeds from a $4.42 million, federal tax-free industrial revenue bond allocated through the Wisconsin Department of Commerce, according to the state agency. Proceeds of the bonds are loaned to new or expanding businesses to use toward development projects. the grant will enable Dick's to borrow at a lower interest rate, according to Wall.
The company plant, based in Platteville, makes bakery and deli items for Dick's and other stores, supermarket companies, and food distribution companies. The construction project will add 30 new positions to the 149 jobs already in place. Calls to Dick's for more information were not returned.
