Dollar General Names Grocer as Real Estate Department Exec

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. -- Dollar General Corp. here said on Friday that Gayle Aertker and Paul DiBrito have joined the company's real estate department as s.v.p. of real estate and v.p. of real estate, respectively. DiBrito's background includes stints at both A&P and the Fleming Cos., experience that could come in handy as Dollar General expands its food-heavy Dollar General Market format.

"Both Gayle and Paul bring tremendous knowledge and experience in commercial and retail real estate to their new roles at Dollar General," said Guion in a statement. "Their leadership skills will effectively support the company's growth."

Aertker will report to Kathleen Guion, Dollar General's division president of store operations and store development, and DiBrito will report directly to Aertker.

Aertker's career in real estate acquisition and development spans nearly 30 years. Most recently, she was a managing partner of Millennium Retail Partners, LLC, specializing in national retail real estate consulting, advisory services, and commercial real estate brokerage and development for retailers. Additionally, Aertker has held executive positions with Office Depot, Toys "R" Us, and Price Club (Costco).

DiBrito brings more than 20 years of retail real estate and development experience to Dollar General. Previously, he operated Cornerstone Consulting, a real estate consulting company serving retailers and developers. He was formerly s.v.p. of real estate and development at The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company. His experience also includes senior management positions with Fleming Companies, Inc., and PetSmart, Inc.

Dollar General operates 7,928 neighborhood stores that offer food, snacks, health and beauty aids, and cleaning supplies, as well as a selection of basic apparel, housewares, and seasonal items at everyday low prices.
